The Academic Support Specialist works closely with the Programme Leader for Fashion Business Postgraduate courses in order to support with the administration of the programme and the organisation with tall academic activities. The role supports the Programme Leader in the supervision, progress and performance of the programme including the smooth running and overall students’ satisfaction, whilst coordinating the academic activities related to the course and tutors.
Key purpose of the role
To ensure smooth support of administration related to the MA Fashion Business programmes, by supporting the check of weekly lessons and activities delivered by tutors;
To support with the daily organisation of the programme;
Support the functions and processes associated with the delivery, monitoring and assessment processes of academic programmes to the required quality standard;
To laise with all departments and tutors within the school to help with the quality and standards of the MA fashion business programmes;
To effectively liaise with staff in relation to the co-ordination and management of academic timetables and the availability of teaching space;
To assist with providing timely and accurate management information as required by the Programme Leader;
To assist and liaise with External Examiners and to support the examination process;
To support with the professional development planning for all Masters students for career development
To maintain an accurate record system of all the documents related to the programme;
To support the pedagogic activity;
To liaise with tutors as needed;
To attend meetings as required, orientations and open days;
To complete any other tasks assigned as appropriate with the role.
Education and skills
Bachelor or Master Degree
Previous experience working in a similar or administrative support position
Experience in working in the creative industries or similar environments would be beneficial
Experience of dealing sensitively with a range of enquiries and needs
Customer service skills
Problem solving skills
Excellent communications skills and knowledge of the English language, written and spoken
Knowledge of the UK Higher Education system
Knowledge of Fashion Business as a discipline or strong interest for it
Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office package
Knowledge of the MAC system is highly beneficial
