Meet the Team:
Join our fleet maintenance team as an experienced Master Diesel Mechanic with specialized expertise in Freightliner Cascadia trucks and Detroit Diesel engines. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our Freightliner fleet, while providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior mechanics.
What you'll do:
Perform complex diagnostic procedures on Detroit Diesel engines (DD13, DD15, DD16) and Freightliner electrical systems
Troubleshoot and repair Detroit Diesel DDEC (Detroit Diesel Electronic Controls) systems and Freightliner multiplexed wiring systems
Diagnose and repair Detroit DT12 automated manual transmissions and Meritor axles
Service and maintain Detroit Diesel aftertreatment systems including DPF, DEF, and SCR components
Work with Freightliner ServiceLink diagnostic software and Detroit Diagnostic Link (DDL)
Lead technical projects and provide guidance to apprentice and journeyman mechanics specializing in Freightliner equipment
Maintain detailed repair records using Freightliner ServicePoint or similar fleet management systems
Ensure all work meets Detroit Diesel and Freightliner warranty and specification requirements
Participate in Freightliner preventive maintenance programs and DOT inspection procedures
Stay current with Detroit Diesel engine updates, Freightliner technical bulletins, and EPA emission regulations
What you’ll need to Succeed:
Minimum 7-10 years of hands-on diesel mechanic experience with strong emphasis on Freightliner trucks
Experience with Detroit DT12 transmission service and repair
Background in Class 8 over-the-road truck maintenance and repair
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician certification or equivalent (T4, T5, T6, T8)
ASE Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnostic L2 Certification or equivalent
At least 5 years of specific experience with Freightliner Cascadia models (2008-present)
Minimum 3 years working with Detroit Diesel engines (DD13, DD15, DD16) with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
High school diploma or equivalent required
Completion of formal diesel technology program from accredited technical school preferred
EPA Section 609 certification for refrigerant handling
Valid driver's license with clean driving record
Expert-level knowledge of Detroit Diesel engines (DD13, DD15, DD16) theory, operation, and repair procedures
Proficiency with Detroit Diagnostic Link (DDL) and Freightliner ServiceLink diagnostic software
Advanced understanding of Detroit Diesel fuel injection systems and DDEC electronic controls
Expertise in Detroit Diesel aftertreatment systems (DPF, DEF, SCR, DOC)
Experience with Detroit DT12 automated manual transmission diagnosis and repair
Strong electrical troubleshooting abilities with Freightliner multiplexed wiring systems
Knowledge of Meritor axles, drivelines, and brake systems commonly used in Cascadia trucks
Understanding of Freightliner air ride suspension and cab air systems
Experience with Freightliner body control modules and instrument cluster diagnostics
Knowledge of DOT inspection procedures specific to Class 8 trucks
Other Job Details
Ability to work occasionally in inclement weather/temperature extremes.
Ability to be flexible on short notice and may work extended hours/weekends/evenings when project demands.
Ability to work and collaborate across locations over different time zones.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly
Comfortable working in various weather conditions and confined spaces
Requires transportation to locations away from the site.
Valid US Driver’s license with a safe driving record required. May travel occasionally to other states.
May have the opportunity for international travel requiring the ability to obtain a passport and appropriate documents.
Comply with Torc’s policy regarding the use of alcohol and drugs if operating a vehicle, which includes pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized drug testing.
Requires appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in areas identified through hazard assessment.
Requires continuous technical education and training with a passion for knowledge in the field of study to maintain the highest level of knowledge, ingenuity, and creative thinking.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Torc's total compensation package will also include our corporate bonus and stock option plan. Dependent on the position offered, sign-on payments, relocation, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
