Job Description
Jump Trading Group is committed to world class research. We empower exceptional talents in Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science to seek scientific boundaries, push through them, and apply cutting edge research to global financial markets. Our culture is unique. Constant innovation requires fearlessness, creativity, intellectual honesty, and a relentless competitive streak. We believe in winning together and unlocking unique individual talent by incenting collaboration and mutual respect. At Jump, research outcomes drive more than superior risk adjusted returns. We design, develop, and deploy technologies that change our world, fund start-ups across industries, and partner with leading global research organizations and universities to solve problems.
As a Data Strategist within our Data Strategy Group, you will be part of a team that is responsible for finding, validating and increasing the overall awareness and effectiveness of external datasets as it relates to trading at Jump. The ideal candidate will thrive in connecting business objectives with data-driven solutions, ensuring data is leveraged effectively to deliver insights, drive alpha, and sustain a competitive advantage. For this role, we are looking for someone to own and evolve our broker data relationships as well as support our macro-sourcing efforts.
What You’ll Do:
Own and evolve Jump’s broker data landscape. Serve as the primary point of contact for a network of brokers and research providers, managing and growing those relationships to maximize value from each partnership.
Lead end‑to‑end discovery, evaluation, commercial negotiation, and onboarding of new broker datasets, coordinating closely with Legal, Compliance, Technology, and investment teams.
Contribute to a broader understanding of the sell‑side landscape, including emerging content offerings, product updates, and market developments.
Support the macro sourcing efforts by working directly with researchers and other members of the Data Strategy team to translate their needs into concrete data requirements and communicate dataset availability, scope, and limitations.
Leverage your data domain expertise and technical skills to perform in-depth assessments of data sets with a focus on data integrity, coverage and differentiation.
Create and cultivate relationships with vendors to proactively identify and capitalize on emerging data opportunities that drive strategic advantages.
Skills You'll Need:
8–10+ years of experience in a data‑driven role within a hedge fund, asset manager, bank, or data/analytics provider.
Strong understanding of global financial markets, with a particular interest in macro and multi‑asset trading.
Direct exposure to broker data and research products (e.g., estimates, flow data, research content, macroeconomic or policy data).
Proven ability to manage external relationships and navigate commercial, licensing, and usage rights discussions.
Hands‑on experience working with complex datasets and technical delivery mechanisms (APIs, SFTP, data platforms, entitlements).
Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills to work effectively across multiple business units within the firm.
Excellent communication skills and a track record of partnering effectively with both investment and technology teams.
Highly organized, entrepreneurial mindset, with comfort owning initiatives end‑to‑end in a fast‑paced environment.
If you’re excited about shaping how a leading quantitative trading firm discovers and uses broker and macro data — and you enjoy working with both data and people — we’d be excited to meet you.
