Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an Atlassian Administrator to support the day-to-day operation of our Atlassian Cloud environment across multiple teams and regions.
This role will focus on configuring and maintaining Jira and Confluence in line with defined standards, supporting engineering teams in their use of the platform, and ensuring consistent and reliable delivery of services.
A key aspect of this role is operating within and contributing to the development of a configuration-as-code environment, where platform configuration is managed through APIs, pipelines, and source control rather than manual (“click-ops”) administration.
You will act as a key liaison between Project Managers, engineering teams, and the Atlassian platform function, working closely with the Senior Atlassian Platform Engineer to implement configuration changes, support onboarding of new teams, and ensure the platform continues to meet evolving business needs while maintaining governance and stability.
The Team
You’ll be joining a multi-disciplinary team with strong technical skills and a very supportive culture. We work closely together, regularly share knowledge, and your skills will make a direct impact on our business. It’s an exciting and pivotal moment for us right now, with plenty of new projects ahead. If you're looking to solve interesting problems and see your work deliver real-world results, this is the team for you.
Responsibilities and Duties
Configure and maintain Jira and Confluence projects, workflows, fields, and permissions in line with established standards
Execute configuration changes through approved pipelines, APIs, and configuration-as-code workflows wherever possible, avoiding manual (“click-ops”) changes
Work closely with DevOps/Automation Engineers to implement, test, and adopt automated solutions for common administrative tasks
Identify manual or repetitive processes and drive their transition into automated, repeatable workflows
Provide day-to-day support to users, including issue resolution, troubleshooting, and “how-to” guidance
Manage and prioritise incoming requests and support activities, ensuring timely delivery in line with agreed SLAs and business priorities
Work closely with Project Managers and engineering teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable configurations
Act as a key liaison between engineering teams and the Atlassian platform function, ensuring requirements are understood and implemented effectively
Support onboarding of new teams and projects into Atlassian using standardised templates and governed processes
Maintain dashboards, filters, boards, and reporting structures to support team visibility and delivery tracking
Ensure configurations remain consistent and aligned with governance defined by the Senior Atlassian Platform Engineer
Assist in testing and validating configuration changes through controlled environments and CI/CD workflows before rollout
Support integration points (e.g. identity, CI/CD, tooling) and escalate issues where required
Identify opportunities for standardisation, simplification, and improved usability across the platform
Provide feedback to the Senior Atlassian Platform Engineer and DevOps/Automation team on recurring issues, gaps, and opportunities to improve platform design and automation
Contribute to documentation, training materials, and onboarding guides
Support audit, compliance, and governance activities by ensuring configurations are traceable and aligned with defined policies
Essential:
Experience administering Atlassian Cloud (Jira and/or Confluence) in a team or enterprise environment
Strong understanding of Jira workflows, schemes, permissions, and custom fields
Experience working with automation tools (e.g. Jira Automation, REST APIs, or scripting)
Familiarity with configuration-as-code principles and working within governed environments
Experience translating business requirements into scalable and maintainable configurations
Experience supporting users and troubleshooting issues in a live production environment
Ability to work within defined standards and governance frameworks
Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with Project Managers and engineering teams
Ability to operate effectively across time zones in a distributed organisation
Proven ability to operate independently, and deliver outcomes without close supervision
