Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
12+ years of experience in Chief of Staff, Business Operations, Corporate Strategy, Management Consulting, or operational leadership roles within high-scale technology organizations.
Experience serving as a Chief of Staff or senior strategic partner to a Vice President or equivalent executive leading a large, complex technical or go-to-market organization.
Direct experience supporting technical functions across the customer lifecycle, including Customer Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Professional Services, Customer Success, Technical Support, Product, Engineering, or Technical Enablement.
Demonstrated track record of establishing and running executive operating cadences, business reviews, OKR frameworks, and strategic planning cycles.
Experience influencing, negotiating, and driving execution across large, matrixed organizations without direct functional authority.
Exceptional written and verbal executive communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct Chief of Staff experience supporting senior executives in high-growth, fast-paced enterprise cloud, cybersecurity, or infrastructure software organizations.
Baseline technical fluency: demonstrated ability to quickly understand technical and commercial topics, synthesize complex information, and translate it into clear business implications and executive decisions.
Comprehensive understanding of the full organizational lifecycle, with an appreciation for the interdependencies between Pre-Sales (SE), Core Sales (AE), Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Enablement.
Proficiency in leveraging AI productivity tools, advanced analytics, and automation platforms to optimize executive effectiveness, reporting, and organizational cadence.
Strong analytical and diagnostic capability with a proven ability to convert raw data into actionable insights and strategic interventions.
Exceptional executive judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence, with demonstrated ability to operate effectively with highly senior leaders and deliver unvarnished truths constructively.
Proven ability to manage significant ambiguity, continuously reprioritize in real time, and maintain execution quality in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
Strong relationship-building skills with credibility to work effectively across Sales, Customer Engineering, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and People Operations leadership teams.
About the Job:
The Global Security Technical Organization sits at the epicenter of Google Cloud Security’s mission to help global enterprises protect their most critical assets and innovate fearlessly in the AI era. Spanning pre-sales Customer Engineering (SE), post-sales technical engagement, and technical enablement, this organization bridges complex technical architecture with commercial execution across the entire customer lifecycle.
As Chief of Staff to the executive leader of the Global Security Technical Organization, you will serve as the primary strategic thought partner, operational architect, and force multiplier. This is not an administrative or tactical project coordination role. You will operate at the center of a large, global, technically sophisticated organization spanning Customer Engineering, Core Sales (AE), Product, Engineering, and Post-Sales delivery. You will be expected to understand the business deeply enough to challenge assumptions, diagnose performance gaps, connect issues across functions, and help leadership make better and faster decisions.
The environment is fast-moving and demanding. The leadership team operates with significant pace, high standards, and a strong bias toward action. The ideal candidate will bring deep operational experience supporting technical executives, baseline technical fluency to interface credibly across engineering and commercial domains, and absolute functional neutrality to drive alignment across competing organizational priorities.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Thought Partnership & Executive Counsel: Serve as the executive’s trusted sounding board across organizational strategy, business performance, operating priorities, and cross-functional execution. Offer candid, objective counsel and stress-test assumptions in private, while driving unified execution, clarity, and alignment across the organization in public.
Functional Neutrality & Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as an unbiased broker across Pre-Sales (SE), Core Sales (AE), Customer Success, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and People Operations. Evaluate organizational commitments and strategic priorities through the lens of overall business and customer impact rather than functional boundaries.
Operating Rhythm & Governance: Design, implement, and run the organization's operating system, including annual and quarterly strategic planning, Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), leadership staff cadences, OKRs, decision forums, and structured follow-through mechanisms.
Business Performance & Analytical Insights: Monitor and analyze business and operational performance across the customer lifecycle. Identify emerging trends, diagnose execution bottlenecks, and convert complex data into actionable insights and leadership interventions.
Decision Velocity & Proactive Execution: Transform leadership discussions from informational updates into decisive action forums. Anticipate operational roadblocks, surface risks early, and drive resolution across organizational boundaries with clear ownership, milestones, and success metrics.
AI & Operational Efficiency: Leverage and champion modern AI productivity tools, automation frameworks, and analytics platforms to improve executive leverage, streamline organizational workflows, and increase operational visibility.
Executive Proxy & Stakeholder Alignment: Represent the executive leader in critical internal forums, customer engagements, and cross-functional working groups. Bridge competing incentives across matrixed stakeholder groups to build consensus without sacrificing velocity.
Strategic Incubation & Special Projects: Directly lead high-impact, ambiguous workstreams that span multiple organizations or lack a natural functional home, driving them from concept to operationalization.
Executive Communications: Author high-signal executive briefings, business reviews, and organizational communications that synthesize complex technical, operational, and commercial topics into concise executive narratives and decisions.
Leadership Profile & Operating Style:
This role is particularly well suited for an executive operator who:
Acts as a Force Multiplier: Measures success by the leverage, clarity, and decision quality provided to the executive and leadership team rather than personal visibility.
Operates with Pace and Stamina: Demonstrates high personal standards, strong responsiveness, and the stamina to thrive in a high-scale, fast-moving organization.
Executes Proactively: Anticipates issues, removes friction, and drives outcomes autonomously rather than waiting for direction.
Maintains Zero Functional Turf: Approaches organizational design, resource allocation, and strategic trade-offs with complete objectivity, free of functional bias or domain favoritism.
Remains Composed Under Pressure: Stays level-headed and rigorous when navigating incomplete information, shifting priorities, or high-stakes business environments.
