Job Description
Here at Appian, our values of Intensity and Excellence define who we are. We set high standards and live up to them, ensuring that everything we do is done with care and quality. We approach every challenge with ambition and commitment, holding ourselves and each other accountable to achieve the best results. When you join Appian, you’ll be part of a passionate team dedicated to accomplishing hard things, together.
Consultant
Appian Customer Success is obsessed with delivering exceptional customer outcomes and mission-critical business impact at speed. Our team acts as the elite consulting arm of Appian, partnering directly with the world’s largest commercial clients to bring their most ambitious ideas to life. By joining this high-performance team, you will establish a world-class foundation in professional consulting while directly accelerating global adoption of our AI-Powered Process Automation platform.
As a Consultant at Appian, you won’t just write code - you will architect modern business transformations. This role offers an unprecedented opportunity to sit at the intersection of business strategy and technical innovation. Instead of being pigeonholed into isolated legacy components, you will own the end-to-end delivery of highly visible, custom software solutions. You will work side-by-side with client executives to solve complex workflow problems, build robust integrations, and empower enterprise teams to achieve Enterprise-Grade Orchestration.
What You’ll Do
Architect & Implement: Design, develop, and deploy robust, custom automation solutions throughout the entire project lifecycle utilizing Appian’s AI-Powered Process Automation platform.
Integrate Ecosystems: Build seamless data connections and scalable APIs to integrate multiple external enterprise systems using REST, SOAP, and JDBC connections.
Engineer Data Models: Launch new relational data models in production environments and optimize database design through sophisticated SQL development.
Agile Delivery: Partner within cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies (sprints, stand-ups, pair programming) to rapidly deliver high-value features.
Empower Clients: Collaborate closely with client technical teams and business stakeholders, driving platform adoption and training users to become self-sufficient.
Required Qualifications
Degree: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a closely related technical field.
Experience: 1+ years of hands-on experience in software development or technical implementation consulting.
Core Engineering: Proven track record with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), database design, and SQL (writing complex queries, joins, and views).
Requirements Gathering: Demonstrated ability to analyze client business processes and translate them into functional and technical system requirements.
Client engagement skills: Demonstrate good judgement and communication skills across a variety of client scenarios.
Mobility: Willingness to travel up to 20% to support customer engagements and on-site collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with modern cloud architecture and environments, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, or Elastic Containers.
Exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Analytics, and automated test suites within a continuous integration framework.
Tools and Resources
Training and Development: During onboarding, we focus on equipping new hires with the skills and knowledge for success through department-specific training. Continuous learning is a central focus at Appian, with dedicated mentorship and the First-Friend program being widely utilized resources for new hires.
Growth Opportunities: Appian provides a diverse array of growth and development opportunities, including our leadership program tailored for new and aspiring managers, a comprehensive library of specialized department training through Appian University, skills based training, and tuition reimbursement for those aiming to advance their education. This commitment ensures that employees have access to a holistic range of development opportunities.
Community: We’ll immerse you into our community rooted in respect starting on day one. Appian fosters inclusivity through our 8 employee-led affinity groups. These groups help employees build stronger internal and external networks by planning social, educational, and outreach activities to connect with Appianites and larger initiatives throughout the company.
Benefits
Appian offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, wellbeing, and financial future. Benefits may include health coverage, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with free mental health support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), a retirement/pension plan, wellness dollars, tuition reimbursement, family-forming benefits and more.
