A key success factor in the growth of ASML is the collaboration with our supply chain ecosystem. In order to drive industrialization in our ecosystem, the Supplier Quality Engineering departments within Supplier Collaboration and Quality work closely with our suppliers and are part of the Module Delivery Units.
In the position of Department Manager Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE), you and your team are key contributors to the Industrialization of our ASML supply chain ecosystem. The mission of SQE is to industrialize ASML supply chains and optimize their quality, cost and lead-time performance with suppliers as part of ASML’s Product Generation Process. Activities range from early supplier involvement participating in product design to release of the production processes for volume manufacturing as well as troubleshooting production processes for yield and quality in case they appear. Key to success is active participation in the MDU (Module Delivery Unit) and close collaboration with Supplier Account Teams (SATs).
As a Department Manager, you will bring goal orientation and results. Being part of a Center of Excellence it is key to have a strong technical competence fundament through people and performance management.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead and develop the SQE organization (50–100 FTE) to deliver predictable results across the technology domain(s).
Deliver industrialization readiness for New Product Introductions (NPI) with suppliers, from early supplier involvement through release to volume.
Improve supplier quality performance and reduce cost of poor quality through structured problem solving and prevention.
Ensure strong governance, compliance, and quality of SQE deliverables, documentation, and audits across the supplier base.
Build and maintain domain expertise and external/internal networks to enable effective technical interfacing with suppliers, D&E (Development & Engineering), and MDUs (Module Delivery Units) business groups.
Execute cross-functional alignment with Supply Chain & Quality (SC&Q) functions, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement (SS&P) Clusters, and Supplier Account Teams to drive supplier performance and prioritization.
Contribute to category strategy and supplier relationship management, translating technology and quality risks into sourcing and development priorities.
Standardize and continuously improve ways of working across SQE technology domains and global ASML sites to increase scalability and consistency.
Within your domain, your focus is on:
Early supplier involvement: you and your group members participate in MDUs (Module Delivery Unit) in the early design phases to secure the manufacturability of the design and technology availability from suppliers and actively involve the suppliers
New Product Introduction: next to executing the risk mitigation plan with the suppliers (e.g., Manufacturing Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, Specification agreement…) you and your group members support the suppliers with qualification, measurement, and manufacturing issues (e.g., yield and quality improvements). Within ASML you assure a smooth transfer to the Quality Supplier Managers (QSM) department (release for volume)
Supplier Development: you and your group members challenge the suppliers on the efficiency and capability of their manufacturing processes by securing usage of appropriate Six Sigma tools (e.g., MSA, Capability analysis). Furthermore, you and your group members identify non-conformities on supplier manufactured products through First Article Inspections and drive subsequent improvement plans in cooperation with the supplier.
This position is located on-site in Wilton, CT. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.
Education and Experience
Bachelors or Master’s Degree with supporting education in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, etc.), or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 12 years of experience with 5 years of experience managing direct reports.
Strong English communication skills–both written and oral
Experience with quality management tools, e.g., DMAIC, FMEA, SPC, MSA, 5xWhy, 8D
Experience in management within a technical high-tech environment
Understanding of, and proven track record in, industrialization processes
Quality Engineering / Quality Management
Preferably (lean) Six Sigma GB / BB
Experience in balancing stakeholders in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment

Additional Responsibilities:
There is potential for exposure to strong magnetic fields, high voltage and currents.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
