Purpose of the role
To support the Risk Function in delivering it’s objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.
Accountabilities
Development of strategic direction for risk, including the implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
Management of the risk department, including oversight of risk colleagues and their performance, implementation of risk priorities and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.
Relationship management of risk stakeholders, including identifying relevant stakeholders, and maintenance of the quality of external third-party services.
Adherence to the Risk policy, standards and frameworks, and maintaining a robust control environment.

Join us as an Economic Crime Oversight & Development Manager, where you will play a key role in the design, enhancement, and oversight of financial crime controls across Screening and Transaction Monitoring (TM). You will ensure that economic crime risks are effectively identified, managed, and mitigated through a robust, risk-based control framework that complies with legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
Working closely with stakeholders across Financial Crime, Risk, Operations, Technology and Compliance, you will drive continuous improvement in control effectiveness, support strategic change initiatives, and provide expert guidance on emerging economic crime risks, regulatory developments, and industry best practice.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Significant experience as a people leader, with the ability to build, motivate and develop teams whilst driving performance, accountability, and colleague growth.
Strong knowledge of economic crime risks and typologies, including money laundering, fraud, sanctions evasion and terrorist financing, with the ability to apply this knowledge to the design of Screening and Transaction Monitoring controls.
Demonstrable experience designing, enhancing, and overseeing financial crime control frameworks within a proportionate, risk-based environment.
Comprehensive understanding of the UK economic crime regulatory landscape, including Money Laundering Regulations, Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), sanctions requirements and relevant FCA expectations.
Strong analytical capability with the ability to convert complex data, risk information and management information into meaningful insight, clear priorities, and actionable recommendations
Experience establishing assurance frameworks, performance measures, and management information to demonstrate measurable risk reduction and control effectiveness.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and translate complex technical issues into clear business outcomes.
Knowledge of transaction monitoring and screening technologies.
Desirable skills and experience include:
Experience supporting regulatory reviews, audits, or assurance activity.
Relevant professional qualifications in financial crime, compliance, risk management, or anti-money laundering.
Proven track record of delivering sustainable improvements across multiple teams and functions while balancing strategic development with practical execution.
Experience working within Financial Crime, AML, Sanctions or Fraud Risk functions within a regulated financial services environment.
