What is the Financial Institutions Director responsible for?
The Financial Institutions Director leads strategic coverage of strategic partners across the Americas, acting as a senior representative of the firm to large, sophisticated investors (e.g., banks, wire houses, independents).
What are the key responsibilities of a Financial Institutions Director?
Client Leadership & Relationship Management
Serve as the primary relationship owner for key financial institutions in the region.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders (e.g., CIOs, fund research teams).
Business Development & Revenue Growth
Originate and grow new mandates, increasing assets under management and revenue from strategic partners.
Drive wallet share by positioning the firm’s capabilities across fixed income, liquidity solutions, multi-asset and alternatives.
Regional Strategy & Market Development
Develop and execute regional engagement strategies aligned to the Americas market.
Contribute to the firm’s strategic footprint and growth priorities in the region.
Client Servicing & Delivery Oversight
Oversee end-to-end client experience, including fund approvals, onboarding, reporting, and ongoing servicing.
Ensure delivery of high-quality, tailored investment reporting and reviews.
Internal Collaboration
Partner closely with investment teams, product specialists, legal/compliance, and operations to deliver solutions and manage client needs.
Act as a bridge between clients and internal stakeholders, influencing product development based on client requirements.
Thought Leadership & Representation
Represent the firm externally through market engagement, client presentations, and thought leadership initiatives.
Provide insights into macroeconomic trends, institutional investment strategies, and regional dynamics.
What ideal qualifications would help someone to be successful?
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree and/or CFA, CAIA, MBA preferred.
Significant experience in institutional sales, relationship management, consultant relations, or business development within asset management, banking, or financial services.
Demonstrated success managing and growing relationships with large financial institutions, including banks, wirehouses, independent broker-dealers, and other strategic distribution partners.
Strong understanding of investment products and solutions across fixed income, liquidity, multi-asset, equity, and alternative investments.
Knowledge of institutional investment processes, due diligence requirements, and fund research platforms.
Business Development & Commercial Acumen
Proven track record of generating new business, expanding wallet share, and achieving asset and revenue growth objectives.
Ability to identify client needs and position complex investment solutions effectively.
Strong negotiation, influencing, and strategic account planning skills.
Relationship Management & Communication
Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and influence senior executives, investment committees, and key decision-makers.
Excellent presentation, communication, and storytelling capabilities, including the ability to simplify complex investment concepts for diverse audiences.
Strong client-centric mindset with a commitment to delivering an outstanding client experience.
Leadership & Collaboration
Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed, global organization and collaborate across investment, product, marketing, legal, compliance, and operations teams.
Demonstrated leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate complex client situations.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.

The ideal candidate combines deep institutional market expertise with a consultative approach to client engagement, leveraging the breadth of Franklin Templeton's investment capabilities to deliver solutions that help clients achieve their long-term objectives.
Franklin Templeton offers employees a competitive and valuable range of total rewards—monetary and non-monetary—designed to support the whole person and to recognize their time, talents, and results. Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the salary for this position to be between $180,000.00 - $212,000.00 plus discretionary bonus.
