Job Description
Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.
We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.
We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.
If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.
About the Role:
The Infrastructure Design Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing data center whitespace environments — the operational computing areas where servers, storage, and network equipment are deployed. This role ensures whitespace layout, power distribution, cooling strategy, and cabling infrastructure support high availability, scalability, and operational efficiency. The engineer partners with Facilities, Electrical and Mechanical teams, and Cloud Infrastructure Architects to ensure whitespace designs align with current and future cloud workload requirements.
What You'll Be Working On:
- Design whitespace layouts including rack placement, aisle configuration, equipment
density, and airflow strategy
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to integrate power
distribution and cooling infrastructure into whitespace environments
- Optimize whitespace designs for capacity, scalability, redundancy, airflow performance,
and energy efficiency
- Coordinate with network and cloud teams to ensure structured cabling, connectivity, and
fiber management meet performance requirements
- Validate redundancy strategies (N+1, 2N) and ensure designs align with SLA
requirements
- Ensure whitespace designs comply with industry standards including TIA-942, Uptime
Institute guidelines, ASHRAE recommendations, and applicable codes
- Apply local building codes, safety regulations, and company design policies
- Develop CAD/BIM drawings, schematics, and 3D models of whitespace environments
- Create capacity planning models to forecast growth, utilization, and infrastructure scaling
- Maintain technical documentation supporting operations, maintenance, and audit
requirements
- Support construction, installation, commissioning, and deployment activities for new data
center environments
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and site inspections
- Provide technical guidance to internal teams, contractors, and external partners
- Evaluate new technologies, modular designs, and industry best practices to improve
performance and efficiency
- Conduct post-occupancy evaluations to validate design outcomes and identify
improvements
What You'll Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities
Engineering, Data Center Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in data center design, preferably in cloud or hyperscale
environments
- Understanding of data center power distribution systems and UPS architectures
- Understanding of cooling systems and HVAC infrastructure
- Experience with structured cabling systems and network connectivity design
- Experience with whitespace layout optimization and equipment density planning
- Proficiency with CAD/BIM tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, or equivalent platforms
- Knowledge of industry standards including TIA-942, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, and
ANSI/BICSI
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, and deployment teams
- Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously
- Willingness to travel to data center sites as required
Benefits:
- Industry competitive pay
