Job Description
WE ARE AN APPLIED AI LAB BUILDING END-TO-END SOFTWARE AGENTS.
We're the makers of Devin, the first AI software engineer.
Our team is extremely talent-dense. Among our founding team, we have world-class competitive programmers, former founders, and leaders from companies at the cutting edge of AI including Scale AI, Palantir, Cursor, Waymo, Tesla, Lunchclub, Modal, Google DeepMind, and Nuro.
Building Devin is just the first step—our hardest challenges still lie ahead. If you’re excited to solve some of the world’s biggest problems and build AI that can reason on real-world tasks, apply to join us.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for an IT Engineer to own the employee technology experience in our New York or London office while helping scale Cognition’s global IT operations.
As the face of IT for the office, this person will ensure employees have secure, reliable technology and responsive support. They will also improve how IT operates by turning recurring work into durable tooling, automation, and AI-enabled workflows.
Strong candidates will bring depth in two or three IT disciplines—not expertise in everything—and an interest in expanding into new areas.
This role is required to be in-person, working 5 days a week from our San Francisco or New York office. We value teamwork and in-person collaboration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
OWN THE EMPLOYEE AND OFFICE IT EXPERIENCE
- Serve as the primary IT partner for employees in the office, providing responsive support across devices, applications, access, conferencing, and workplace technology.
- Own the reliability and employee experience of office technology, including wired and wireless networks, conferencing, vendor coordination, and hardware and software asset lifecycle management.
- Own the improvements needed to support rapid regional growth, partnering with the global IT team on office expansions, moves, infrastructure changes, operational handoffs, runbooks, skills, and knowledge bases.
OPERATE IDENTITY, ENDPOINTS, AND COLLABORATION PLATFORMS
- Administer identity and access across Okta and core SaaS platforms such as Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Zoom, and Microsoft 365.
- Establish repeatable standards and automation for employee lifecycle, group management, application provisioning, and access reviews.
- Administer MDM and endpoint security platforms such as Kandji, Jamf, or Intune across device provisioning, configuration enforcement, patching, fleet visibility, and security remediation.
BUILD AUTOMATION AND INTERNAL TOOLING
- Develop scripts, integrations, and reusable tooling in TypeScript, Python, or another modern programming language.
- Connect systems through APIs and event-driven workflows to reduce manual work and improve data consistency.
- Help build and operate infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD workflows for IT systems, including identity-as-code where appropriate.
- Introduce monitoring and observability that help the team identify and resolve problems before employees report them.
ADVANCE AI-NATIVE IT OPERATIONS
- Help develop our use of Console.ai http://Console.ai and other AI-enabled ITSM capabilities.
- Own continuous improvement using support signals and operational metrics to identify recurring issues and improve self-service, automation, and resolution quality.
- Act as customer zero for Devin by embedding it across IT operations and building the secure integrations and guardrails needed for AI-assisted workflows to operate safely and reliably.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience in IT engineering, systems administration, technical support, or a related role.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline—or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience delivering high-quality, hands-on IT support in an onsite environment.
- Broad familiarity with modern workplace IT and meaningful depth in at least two disciplines (for example, IAM with Terraform and CI/CD, endpoint or network engineering with automation, or software integrations paired with hands-on employee support).
- Experience administering identity, SaaS, or collaboration platforms such as Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Zoom, or Microsoft 365.
- The ability to write and maintain scripts or integrations in TypeScript, Python, or another modern language—or equivalent technical depth applying infrastructure-as-code to systems such as Okta.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, wired and wireless networks, and systematic troubleshooting.
- Strong judgment, communication, and organization, with a track record of carrying ambiguous problems through implementation and ongoing operation.
AN IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BRING
- Ownership: Proactively identifies problems, establishes a path forward, and drives work through completion with appropriate autonomy.
- Service orientation: Approaches support with responsiveness, empathy, and clear communication, recognizing that each interaction shapes trust in IT.
- Builder mindset: Addresses immediate needs while looking for opportunities to prevent recurring issues through better tooling, documentation, automation, and system design.
BONUS IF . . .
- Deep experience with Okta, identity lifecycle management, or identity-as-code.
- Experience with Terraform, CI/CD, Git-based delivery, or API integrations.
- Exposure to AI-enabled ITSM, agentic workflows, or support automation.
- Experience with office builds, enterprise networking, conferencing, or workplace technology.
- Experience with endpoint management, security posture, or vulnerability management.
