The Account Level Management (ALM) program at Mastercard delivers core platform capabilities that enable issuers to configure and manage account-level controls, credential behavior, and transaction experiences—supporting scalable, flexible payment products across global markets.
MasterCard is recruiting a Lead, Software Development Engineering to develop advanced technologies and applications that are revolutionizing payments.

Key Requirements:
• Own complex problems having dependency across services and facilitate cross-functional team interactions to drive resolution
• Write code to build and enhance applications/services and promote code-reviews, code scanning, and other standard development practices to deliver high-quality artifacts to production.
• Define, design, and develop procedures and solutions at a service level to meet the business requirements/enhancements
• Drive prioritization decisions and trade-offs in working with product partners
• Identify opportunities and build roadmaps to enhance primary service/function
• Automate and simplify all aspects of software delivery and development actively evangelizing the need to automate and simplify where needed.
• Drive seamless integration across all connected services to meet end-user expectations
• Drive blameless postmortems culture to identify root causes of incidents and implement learnings
• Introduce new technologies and architecture by following enterprise guidelines
• Advocate for engineering principles outside of current organization/platform
• Provide development and architecture guidance to team members
• Build relationships and effective partnerships across organizations
• Write and evaluate recommendations for job promotions based on an unbiased view of one's accomplishments
• Conduct technical interviews for hiring engineering staff and raising the performance bar
• Lead by example with hands-on approaches to demonstrate engineering excellence
•Encourage staff to share and seek knowledge within their Guild/Program to drive reuse of patterns/libraries/practices and enhance productivity
All About You:
• Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures and core computer science concepts.
• Evidence of working with object-oriented development and Deep understanding of commonly accepted architecture solution approaches design patterns.
• Proficiency in multiple modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Angular, Scala, etc.
• Proficiency with cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, serverless technology, NoSQL databases), micro-service design, CI/CD, DevOps
• Experience designing scalable fault tolerant platforms that are resilient to infrastructure failures
• Experience with the strangulation pattern and anti-corruption layers to migrate monolithic systems into independent services
• Experience with application penetrating testing & troubleshooting, performance/load/stress testing & troubleshooting is strongly desirable
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams and select third parties, be a true team player
• Be able to work under pressure and multi-task while remaining professional and courteous
• Open minded, flexible, and willing to listen to other people’s opinions, actively participating in the discussions and generating ideas and solution options
• Strong written and verbal English communications skills.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Pay Ranges
O'Fallon, Missouri: $140,000 - $231,000 USD
