We are seeking a high‑caliber US Tax Manager (or early Senior Manager) to join a growing, PE‑backed pharmaceutical group during an active phase of expansion and M&A. This role will have primary responsibility for US federal and state tax compliance and provision, significant exposure to transaction support, and direct interaction with senior finance executives.
The ideal candidate brings deep US corporate tax and provision experience, ideally from a loss‑making or growth‑stage organization, and is comfortable operating in a fast‑moving, high‑accountability environment with real visibility.
This role offers clear progression as the group scales, with increasing ownership over deals, planning and strategic projects.
Key Responsibilities
US Tax Compliance & Reporting
Own US federal and multi‑state corporate income tax compliance, including returns, extensions, estimates and audits
Manage tax compliance for loss‑making entities, including NOL tracking, utilisation and related disclosures
Act as primary US tax contact for external advisers (Big 4 and regional firms)
Ensure consistency and strong documentation across filings, workpapers and positions
Tax Provision & Accounting (ASC 740)
Lead the end‑to‑end US income tax provision process, including:
Current and deferred tax calculations
Valuation allowances
Uncertain tax positions
Effective tax rate analysis and explanations
Partner closely with Accounting and FP&A to ensure accurate forecasts and disclosures
Prepare clear, executive‑ready provision materials for senior management
M&A and Transaction Support
Support buy‑side M&A activity, including:
US tax due diligence
Purchase price allocation inputs
Deal structuring considerations
Post‑acquisition integration support
Assist in analysing complex areas such as:
NOL limitations (Section 382)
Transaction costs
Entity rationalisation and reorganisations
Stakeholder Management & Leadership
Act as a trusted US tax adviser to senior finance leadership
Communicate technical matters in clear, commercial language
Collaborate effectively with International Tax, Legal, Treasury and external advisers
Mentor junior team members and contribute to building scalable, best‑practice processes
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
CPA qualified
Bachelor’s degree in accounting (Master’s in Tax preferred)
Big 4 training, with at least 2–3 years at Manager level
Strong background in:
US corporate tax compliance
ASC 740 tax provisions
Multi‑state taxation
Experience working with private‑equity‑backed businesses (preferred)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence dealing with senior executives
Highly Desirable
Hands‑on M&A tax experience (due diligence, integration or restructuring)
Experience in fast‑growing or acquisitive environments
Strong accounting and analytical skillset, with comfort working closely with controllership teams
