Your Day-to-Day
As a Technical Sales Specialist – Microbiology & Molecular Diagnostics, you’ll partner with hospital laboratories and public/private pathology providers to deliver BD’s market-leading diagnostic solutions. Your expertise will help healthcare professionals improve patient outcomes with timely, accurate microbiology and molecular results.
Your day will include:
Driving new business and managing a qualified pipeline across instruments, assays, consumables, service and software in collaboration with Sales manager and Diagnostics solutions consultant
Coordinating product presentations, demos, workflow walkthroughs, and instrument evaluations
Providing blood culture in servicing to clinical staff
Preparing quotations and supporting tenders with pricing packs, fleet lists, assay volumes, and technical schedules
Providing pre- and post‑sales technical and workflow support in collaboration with Applications Specialists
Maintaining regular contact with key users to ensure successful onboarding, adoption, and assay pull‑through
First line troubleshooting of Molecular and microbiology products, with escalation to service engineers as required.
Capturing customer requirements and coordinating with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions
Keeping CRM records up to date and reporting market intelligence
Representing BD at conferences, workshops, KOL events, and educational activities
About You
You’re a science professional with strong experience in clinical microbiology and/or molecular diagnostics, and a passion for supporting laboratories through high‑impact diagnostic technology.
You may also be a Pathology, Clinical, Hospital or Microbiology Scientist looking to transition into a commercial role.
You’ll bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field
Experience working in clinical microbiology and/or molecular diagnostic laboratories (essential)
Ideally 1–3 years’ experience in sales or applications support in clinical diagnostics, microbiology, or molecular instrumentation; OR a lab scientist ready to move into sales
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
Commercial mindset with confidence engaging stakeholders across pathology
Ability to travel (30–40% within your territory)
Existing relationships within pathology laboratories
Familiarity with BD microbiology and molecular solutions (preferred)
