About the Role
We’re hiring a People and Compliance Site Lead to support our Houston, TX Operations & Vehicle Facility. This is a hands-on, on-site role focused on ensuring strong daily execution, workforce readiness, and adherence to site standards and regulatory requirements.
You’ll act as an on-site operational partner to site leadership, focused on observing how work gets done, auditing processes and systems, and identifying gaps early to keep teams ahead of safety, compliance, and execution risks. This role ensures issues are addressed before they escalate and does not own employee relations investigations.
About the Work
Monitor day-to-day site execution, workforce readiness, and adherence to policies and procedures
Conduct regular observations and audits across shifts to identify gaps in operations, safety, and manager consistency
Administer on-site drug screenings and readiness checks in line with company policy
Perform audits across attendance, onboarding, training completion, and documentation quality
Identify patterns, risks, and process breakdowns; document and escalate as needed
Flag fitness-for-duty concerns and initiate appropriate escalation
Partner with frontline managers to drive corrective actions and track follow-through
Maintain clear documentation of observations, issues, and trends
Conduct breakroom and team space facility audits and communicate any findings with the workplace team
Assist with post shift-supervisor timecard audit review and to ensure that team time edits are all submitted on-time
Co-lead team chat sessions with site leads to gather valuable team feedback and assist in developing team action plans.
Assist site leads with review of attrition data and provide insights and support follow-up to address trends
Leverage and implement AI tooling to improve workflows, reporting and controls activity to maximize site operations and compliance
Provide regular insights to site leadership and HRBPs on risks and improvement opportunities
About You
3+ years in operations, safety, compliance, or similar site-based roles
Experience in fast-paced or 24/7 environments
Strong judgment and ability to operate independently in real-time fluid situations
Experience with audits, inspections, or process reviews
Ability to identify patterns and root causes across operational issues
Clear communicator who can document and escalate effectively
Comfortable influencing without direct authority
Professional and discreet in sensitive situations
Willingness to work on-site with occasional off-hours support
Bonus Points
Experience administering drug tests in a regulated environment, including proper handling, documentation, and compliance with applicable protocols
Experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or similar environments
Familiarity with safety protocols (e.g., fitness-for-duty, reasonable suspicion)
Experience working cross-functionally with EHS, HR, or Safety teams
Background in high-growth or scaling environments
At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $68,150 and $92,000 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
