Job Description
As Principal Architect for the SAP AI Partnership, you own the technical architecture and operational integrity of the Tricentis ↔ SAP integration that powers SAP-channel distribution of Tricentis products. You're the principal Tricentis-side counterpart to SAP's Engineering & Architects team and SAP's Partner Co-Innovation Management organization, jointly responsible for the contract surface between the two platforms.
Why it matters
The SAP partnership is strategically critical to Tricentis. This role isn't just about maintaining today's integration - it's about driving ongoing co-innovation with SAP to expand AI, agentic, and quality capabilities across the channel and grow SAP-sourced business.
Scope
You'll architect across the full SolEx and BTP surface: SAP Cloud ALM (CALM) integrations including patterns comparable to qTest and Quality Agent–driven experiences, Joule expansion, and new solution concepts. Products in scope:
SAP Enterprise Continuous Testing (ECT) - built on Tosca
SAP Enterprise Performance Testing (EPT) - built on NeoLoad
SAP Change Impact Analysis (CIA) - built on SeaLights & LiveCompare
SAP Joule ↔ Tricentis AI - own the architecture exposing Tricentis AI in Joule (skills, agents, tools, grounding, entitlements), aligned with shared provisioning/metering/qualification models
Why your decisions matter
Choices about schemas, identifiers, provisioning sequences, metering granularity, and certificate lifecycles directly affect SAP's ability to sell, qualify, support, and bill these products — and therefore the joint customer experience and the partnership itself. These decisions are commercial, not just technical.
Why this role exists
The SAP-channel offering spans an unusually large number of system boundaries with no single accountable architect today. You'll fill that gap: defining, documenting, operating, and continuously hardening the end-to-end flow, and serving as SAP's single technical point of contact on architecture, schema, certificates, billing, qualification, and onboarding.
Where you'll operate
You'll sit at the seam between engineering, business intelligence, product management, finance, and an external strategic partner — equally comfortable writing a JSON schema, reviewing an mTLS certificate exchange, debating Cloud Events payload structure with SAP, or explaining BTPAE credits (SAP-side customer purchase), AI Units (SAP-facing billing currency), and AI Credits (Tricentis-side internal currency) to executives on both sides.
What you'll lead
End-to-end SAP/Tricentis AI integration architecture
Own the reference architecture for AI expansion, agentic AI development support, and the flows connecting Tricentis products to SAP's channel, qualification, and billing models
Own the reference architecture for AI provisioning and metering; define and version the contract with SAP Unified Metering
Own implementation and operational health of webhooks for the CBC feature
Resolve tenant-model edge cases that standard architecture can't handle
Maintain architectural coherence across the SolEx product family
Own the SAP Joule ↔ Tricentis AI architecture end-to-end
Shape CALM integration patterns for Tricentis quality capabilities
Drive agentic AI architecture on the SAP channel
SAP co-innovation partnership
Translate roadmap ambition into architectures SAP can qualify, sell, and support
Act as principal technical contact for SAP Partner Co-Innovation Management and SAP AI Engineering & Architects - mirroring their cadence, terminology, and documentation standards
Coordinate with SAP on BTP services used by the integration (AI Core, Generative AI Hub, Integration Suite, Unified Metering)
Resolve cross-company technical issues at the architect layer: schema validation, certificate/endpoint mismatches, access onboarding, cloud-provider selection, customer-mapping disputes
Maintain bidirectional Tricentis ↔ SAP technical documentation that survives turnover on either side
Propose and socialize new SAP-solution concepts that expand Tricentis's footprint, not just maintain existing paths
What you bring
10+ years in platform integration architecture, including a role bridging two enterprise vendors or operating at a hyperscaler partner-engineering boundary, with authority to make binding (not just advisory) architectural decisions
Working knowledge of SAP's SolEx program - qualification standards, joint roadmap mechanics, co-branding/resale implications - and instinct for when a decision turns commercial
Working knowledge of SAP BTP (account hierarchy, AI Core tenancy, Integration Suite, private-cloud/FedRAMP patterns)
Direct experience with a provider-side metering/entitlement stack (SAP Unified Metering, AWS/Azure/GCP marketplace metering, Stripe Billing, or similar), reconciling usage across multiple billing currencies
Hands-on webhook experience: mTLS authentication, certificate lifecycle, Cloud Events, strict JSON schema validation
Agentic AI development skills: tool/skill interfaces, orchestration and grounding patterns, entitlement-aware agent context, and how agentic workloads connect to metering and qualification
Strong, precise written English for high-stakes, multi-party cross-company communication
Success criteria
Monthly SAP AI usage reporting runs reliably without routine human involvement
New SAP-channel customers onboard end-to-end without Engineering escalation, with decreasing architect intervention over time, including non-standard tenants
Tricentis ↔ SAP technical issues resolve at the architect layer instead of escalating to executives
SolEx premium-qualification posture maintained for ECT, EPT, and CIA yearly and at every major release, with zero regressions from architectural drift
At least one new SAP-channel solution concept defined per year that SAP can take through qualification and roadmap planning
Engineering, BI, PMO, Finance, and Sales Ops have a single canonical reference architecture and point of contact
