Job Description
Lithic is the modern card issuing and processing platform empowering ambitious financial companies to build the future of payments.
Our infrastructure powers card programs for 100+ innovative clients, from fintechs reimagining credit and digital banking to platforms transforming disbursements and spend management. Companies like Mercury, Flex, and Novo rely on Lithic's developer-friendly APIs, direct network connections, and flawless reconciliation to launch and scale card programs in weeks, not years.
We're building a future where access to better financial products materially improves people's lives, free from the constraints of 30-year-old mainframes and legacy processors. We're proud to be backed by world-class investors who share that vision, including Bessemer Venture Partners, Index Ventures, Spark Capital, Stripes, and Mastercard, along with many others.
We're a team of 160+ across 26 states and 7 countries, headquartered in New York City. Our values (Customer Centricity, Deliver Excellence, Act Like an Owner, Iterate Iterate Iterate, Teach Others, and Be a Good Neighbor) shape how we work and grow as a team.
We are hiring a Senior Data Analyst to support the Risk & Compliance organization with strong problem solving, communication, and technical skills to deliver insights into the presence of current risks, and the likelihood and impact of those we have yet to encounter. This role will sit on the Analytics team and work closely with cross-functional teams across Risk, Compliance, Product, and Engineering to create, evaluate, and drive continuous improvement of risk policies, limits, rules, alerts, and dashboards. This role is critical to enabling Lithic and our customers to optimize our risk control and monitoring efforts.
Responsibilities:
Deep dive into past and ongoing trends and provide data driven insights that identify and predict risky behavior that could result in outsized operational, financial, and reputational losses for Lithic and our customers
Develop customer and program segmentation frameworks to enable proportionate monitoring across varied use cases and industries
Identify rule criteria, test and validate rule output, and report on portfolio and rule performance in ways that influence Lithic's risk strategy; support fraud authorization rule management for managed services clients
Create dashboards to monitor performance across relevant metrics and create alerts to highlight any anomalies or unusual trends
Identify new approaches and data sources that could help us better understand various forms of risk, and partner with our operations, and product and engineering teams to implement them
Build relationships with our customer-facing teams (and occasionally our customers themselves) to best inform our approach to managing risk in a way that enables prudent growth
Support risk assessments, audits, and ad-hoc projects as assigned
Qualifications:
2+ years in financial services risk, fraud, or compliance roles, or equivalent experience investigating payments fraud and translating findings into actionable rules or policies; issuer or processor experience a plus
Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving, with experience leveraging large datasets to drive assessments and decisions
Expert SQL skills (we use Snowflake but are open to all dialects); experience with dbt and Python preferred
Experience building reusable, well-documented analyses rather than one-off queries; comfort with analytics engineering practices (git, command line, modular data modeling) a plus
Experience creating performance monitoring dashboards using Metabase, Looker, or similar BI tools
Outstanding communication and influence skills, with the ability to foster collaboration across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Self-awareness and humility, with the ability to balance first-principles thinking, pattern recognition from experience, and knowing when to ask for help
The annual US salary range for this role is $130,000 - $165,000 plus equity. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Lithic and will be narrowed during the interview process based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
This is a remote position. However, candidates must be located in the United States, Canada, Netherlands, Poland, or Czech Republic. We do not offer visa sponsorship or assistance.
