Shapes the long-term technical vision for enterprise-scale software systems and application development, driving the evolution of mission-critical product portfolios. Spearheads the integration of open-source frameworks and modern development methodologies into traditional mainframe environments to ensure platform sustainability. Cultivates a high-performance engineering culture by mentoring technical leaders and optimizing organizational talent to deliver resilient, market-leading software solutions.
Scope: Executive Technical Strategy & Global Governance
Global Architectural Sovereignty: Orchestrates the overarching technical strategy for multiple functional areas and major product groups within the Mainframe Software Division, ensuring the global portfolio remains the gold standard for enterprise computing.
Strategic Human Capital Development: Cultivates an elite engineering culture by selecting, developing, and evaluating high-potential technical leaders, ensuring the organization maintains a critical balance of deep legacy expertise and modern software proficiency.
Industry Influence & Visionary Leadership: Serves as a recognized authority and influential leader within the global mainframe ecosystem, championing open-source integration and modern engineering standards to shape the future of the industry.
Organizational Policy & Innovation: Leverages an intimate, institutional knowledge of Broadcom to architect corporate policies and promote high-impact, innovative concepts that redefine the Mainframe for the next several decades.
Fiscal & Strategic Stewardship: Exercises decisive authority over administrative and operational matters, including the strategic allocation of division spend, budget management, and direct impact on P&L activities to drive profitable growth.
M&A & Corporate Development: Acts as a key technical advisor for MSD Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), evaluating target technologies for integration into the Broadcom ecosystem and ensuring long-term synergy.
Enterprise Risk & Discretion: Navigates high-stakes complexity where analysis spans diverse functional data; recognizes that strategic decisions carry profound weight, with the potential to significantly impact the overall trajectory and success of Broadcom.
Operational Methodology: Establishes the methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for mission-critical projects and personnel, ensuring that all schedules and technical roadmaps align with the highest corporate performance requirements.
Executive Alignment: Operates with a high degree of autonomy, typically reporting to the VP of R&D, with appointment and performance validated at the highest levels of corporate leadership (CEO/VP of HR).
Qualifications:
Experience: A distinguished career spanning 20+ years of technical leadership, including at least 6 years of high-level management overseeing complex, multi-functional engineering organizations.
Complexity: Proven ability to resolve multifaceted issues across global functional areas, utilizing deep-dive data analysis and an in-depth understanding of Broadcom’s unique operational model.
