Job Description
As the world works and lives faster, FIS is leading the way. Our fintech solutions touch nearly every market, company, and person on the planet. Our teams are inclusive and diverse. Our colleagues work together and celebrate together. If you want to advance the world of fintech, we’d like to ask you: Are you FIS?
As a Senior Systems Administrator within the BOTS Operations Tools Support team, you will play a critical role in the reliability, security, and evolution of enterprise infrastructure tooling that supports global, mission‑critical operations. This role goes beyond day‑to‑day administration—you will act as a technical owner and escalation authority, responsible for ensuring that monitoring, patching, privileged access, and network visibility platforms are stable, scalable, and aligned with business and service delivery objectives.
You will work as part of a globally distributed team, collaborating closely with US‑based senior engineers and stakeholders, while providing regional engineering coverage from the Philippines to support 24x7 operations. The role requires a strong balance of hands‑on technical expertise, incident leadership, and strategic thinking, particularly during major incidents, platform changes, and resilience initiatives.
This is a senior position suited for an experienced engineer who thrives in complex enterprise environments, takes ownership of platforms end‑to‑end, and is motivated to continuously improve operational maturity through better tooling, automation, and forward‑looking technologies. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to future‑focused initiatives, including intelligent automation and modern observability practices, helping shape how operations scale and evolve over time.
About the team:
The BOTS Operations Tools Support team provides operational support for a suite of critical enterprise infrastructure tools, including Zabbix, BeyondTrust Password Safe, and BigFix. The team plays a key role in ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient IT operations through proactive monitoring, privileged access management, software and patch management, and vulnerability remediation across the environment.
Responsibilities:
Monitoring & Alerting:
Design, configure, and manage proactive monitoring and alerting using Zabbix, including performance analysis and continuous improvement of monitoring coverage across enterprise systems.
Privileged Access Management:
Administer secure password storage and controlled access using BeyondTrust Password Safe, ensuring compliance with security and access control standards.
Patching & Vulnerability Management:
Implement and oversee timely patching through BigFix, actively identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities to maintain a secure and stable environment.
What you will be doing:
Own the strategic and operational management of core enterprise platforms, including Zabbix, BigFix, and BeyondTrust Password Safe, ensuring their stability, scalability, security, and alignment with BOTS service delivery and reliability objectives.
Provide senior-level regional engineering coverage from the Philippines to support 24x7 global operations, enabling effective monitoring, incident response, escalation handling, and continuity of service during US off-hours.
Protect service availability and SLA performance by driving proactive monitoring strategies, configuration management, capacity planning, and license compliance across BOTS-supported client and server environments.
Serve as the senior technical authority for assigned platforms by:
Leading Major Incident (P1/P2) response and escalation
Driving root cause analysis and corrective actions
Reducing repeat incidents and operational risk through systemic improvements
Lead platform lifecycle management, including:
Roadmap development and strategic planning
Platform upgrades, enhancements, and decommissioning
Continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, automation, and cost control
Partner closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, and key stakeholders to:
Support architectural and platform changes
Ensure contractual obligations and business requirements are met
Enable new capabilities, tooling, and resilience initiatives
Establish and maintain strong operational governance by defining standards, maintaining high-quality documentation, and ensuring effective knowledge transfer to reduce single‑point‑of‑failure and dependency risk.
What you will need:
Senior-Level Experience
Extensive experience in senior infrastructure or platform roles, such as:
Senior Systems Administrator
Infrastructure Engineer
Platform Operations Engineer
L3 Support Engineer
A proven track record of working in enterprise-scale, mission‑critical environments, where availability, stability, and resilience are non‑negotiable.
Demonstrated ownership of systems rather than task-based or ticket-only responsibilities.
Core Technical Expertise (Required)
Deep, hands-on expertise in Windows and Linux system administration, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and lifecycle management in large environments.
Strong working knowledge of Network Monitoring Systems (NMS) and observability concepts, including:
SNMP, WMI, APIs, and agent‑based monitoring
Designing, implementing, and maintaining monitoring solutions—not just responding to alerts
Proven ability to operate as a technical generalist, confidently engaging across multiple technology stacks and domains.
Clear experience:
Leading or driving resolution during major (P1/P2) incidents
Participating in architectural design and platform changes
Contributing meaningfully to solution design, reliability, and monitoring strategy
Supporting Platform Knowledge
Working knowledge of enterprise platforms, including:
VMware
Active Directory
Core networking concepts and network‑integrated systems
Ways of Working
Willing and able to work US business hours, particularly during the initial onboarding and transition period.
Comfortable working closely with US‑based senior engineers on day-to-day operations, incident management, and long‑term platform initiatives.
A professional history that reflects stability, accountability, and long‑term ownership, rather than frequent short‑term roles.
Professional & Soft Skills
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
A proactive, ownership‑driven mindset—someone who identifies gaps, raises concerns, and proposes improvements.
A continuous improvement mentality, with the curiosity and discipline to evolve systems and practices over time.
Confidence to challenge the status quo, think strategically, and actively contribute ideas that improve tooling, resilience, and operational maturity.
Nice to Have (Differentiators)
Hands-on experience with Zabbix or similar enterprise-grade monitoring platforms.
Practical scripting experience using:
PowerShell
JavaScript
Ability to design, write, and consume API integrations for monitoring, automation, or systems integration.
Exposure to automation, orchestration, or observability enhancements within complex enterprise environments.
Foundational knowledge of AI and intelligent automation concepts, including:
Use of AI-driven tooling or analytics to improve monitoring, alerting, incident response, or operational efficiency
Practical understanding of where AI can augment (but not replace) traditional operations workflows
Familiarity with agentic or workflow-driven automation concepts, such as:
Systems or tools that orchestrate multi-step actions based on events, signals, or policies
Applying logic-driven or agent-style automation to reduce manual operational effort
Awareness of emerging AI integration patterns, such as:
Model or context orchestration concepts (e.g., Model Context Protocol / MCP or similar frameworks)
Using APIs or tooling to safely integrate AI capabilities into enterprise systems and workflows
What we offer you:
At FIS, you can learn, grow and make an impact in your career. Our benefits include:
Flexible and creative work environment
Diverse and collaborative atmosphere
Professional and personal development resources
Opportunities to volunteer and support charities
Competitive salary and benefits
