Job Description
Drive Innovation as a Software Engineer with Trimble Transportation Enterprise division
About us:
Trimble is a global technology company that connects the physical and digital worlds, transforming the ways work gets done. In the transportation & logistics segment, our solutions make it safer, simpler and more efficient to move freight – bringing together a global network of shippers, carriers, brokers and 3PLs.
What Makes This Role Great:
The Trimble Transportation Enterprise division is hiring a Software Engineer to build and maintain a large, mission-critical enterprise platform and the integration ecosystem around it. You will work across both a core .NET application and a fleet of event-driven .NET microservices — adding new business capability, hardening existing functionality, and extending the integrations that connect internal systems with partner and cloud services.
Key Exciting Responsibilities:
Develop new features and fix defects across the core .NET application and the integration microservices.
Build and maintain event-driven integrations using Kafka (producers, consumers, CDC pipelines) between internal systems and external partners.
Write and tune SQL Server / T-SQL — stored procedures, queries, schema changes — that back both the platform and the integration services.
Containerize, deploy and operate services using Docker and Kubernetes, through GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
Work with cloud infrastructure (Azure) for hosting, messaging, secrets and observability.
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, sprint ceremonies and on-call/triage as part of an Agile/Scrum team.
Diagnose production issues end-to-end — from .NET service logs and Kafka topics down to the SQL Server database.
Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps and partner teams; clearly communicate trade-offs, risks and status in writing and in meetings.
Essential Skills & Experience:
2–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong hands-on C# and .NET (both .NET Framework and .NET Core / .NET 6+).
Solid SQL Server / T-SQL skills joins, indexing basics, stored procedures, query troubleshooting.
Working experience with Kafka or another message broker / event streaming platform.
Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, REST APIs and async/event-driven patterns.
Exposure to Postman and related API tooling (e.g., Insomnia, Swagger/OpenAPI, curl) for designing, testing, debugging and documenting REST APIs. Comfortable with Docker and exposure to Kubernetes.
Experience with Git / GitHub and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
Hands-on experience with at least one public cloud (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable).
Experience working in a Fast paced delivery model.
Strong written and verbal communication skills able to explain technical decisions to engineers and non-engineers, write clear PRs, design notes and incident summaries.
Demonstrable, day-to-day fluency with modern AI developer tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub or similar) using them effectively for coding, code review, debugging, refactoring, writing tests and ramping up on unfamiliar code. We are an AI-forward team and expect every engineer to leverage these tools to ship faster and with higher quality.
Bonus Points For:
Hands-on experience with observability tooling (Datadog, Application Insights, ELK or similar) — using dashboards, logs, metrics and traces to diagnose production issues.
Bachelor of Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech) in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
Experience with the transportation, logistics, trucking or supply-chain industry (TMS, dispatch, fuel, EDI, freight, telematics, etc.) is a strong plus.
Experience with code-quality and security tooling (SonarQube, WhiteSource/Mend, Dependabot).
Familiarity with CDC tools (e.g., Debezium) and data-streaming pipelines.
