The Role
This key role focuses on a Well Log Data Management project utilizing AspenTech’s proprietary software for Formation Evaluation and Characterization. This project emphases mainly on maintaining high-quality well logs data in a repository, preparing composite logs and the utilization of spliced logs in advanced geological workflows e.g., to estimate the Total Organic Carbon (TOC) from wireline logs using different methodologies etc. As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with the customers to understand their specific challenges and provide innovative solutions that drive long-term value and success. Reporting to the Director of Customer Enablement (On-Sites - SSE), the Sr Principal Customer Enablement Specialist – Petrophysicist will be responsible for delivering full-time, on-site support to one of AspenTech’s most strategic customers in the Middle East.
Your Impact
Provide customer support service on a Well Log Data Management project utilizing AspenTech’s proprietary software for Formation Evaluation and Characterization that drives user engagement and sustains product usage.
Oversee and ensure the quality and consistency of well log data (field data, processed data, and interpreted data).
Review and ensure technical accuracy and consistency of petrophysical work produced by Petrophysicist.
Manage petrophysical aspects of the project, ensuring timely delivery of results and alignment with project objectives.
Ensure the quality of well log data through detailed review and validation and discussion with data providers.
Apply the latest technology and efficient workflows to generate petrophysical work processes.
Evaluate and normalize field wide petrophysical data (where required).
Generate final composite logs for all wells and prepare final LAS files containing all well log attributes.
Assist with troubleshooting of technical and/or petrophysical data related problems described by Customer using AspenTech’s proprietary software.
Prepare and present technical reports, presentations, and recommendations to senior management and Customers.
Adhere to contractual obligations and communicate potential gaps to management.
Collaborate with other AspenTech functions to maintain and develop business opportunities.
Develop strong relationships with Customer, building an understanding of their business needs and challenges.
Work in close collaboration with the Project Manager and Customer on the Well Log Data Management project to ensure effective coordination and successful delivery of project activities.
Support the Project Manager and Customer in maintaining well data for newly drilled wells and integrating new data for existing wells into the repository.
Preparation of composite logs for analysis and interpretation.
Utilize available spliced logs in advanced geological workflows, such as estimating Total Organic Carbon (TOC) using various methodologies.
Work with the Customer to troubleshoot and resolve any other issues related to the Well Log Data Management project.
What You'll Need
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Petrophysics, Geology, Geosciences, Earth Sciences or related discipline.
A minimum of 15 years of industry experience as a Petrophysicist, Well log Analyst or Wellsite Geologist in the oil and gas industry.
Extensive experience in petrophysical evaluation, well logging techniques, reservoir characterization, and resource assessment.
Good understanding of Petrophysical topics like NMR, ECS, XRD, PNL, SONIC, TOC calculations etc.
Preferably have experience in well log data management (Well log conditioning, Splicing, QA/QC etc.).
Ability to work with large datasets, perform quality control, and ensure data integrity.
Proven hands-on experience with AspenTech Formation Evaluation software (Aspen Geolog) and/or other advanced petrophysical applications such as PowerLog, Techlog, DecisionSpace Petrophysics, or Interactive Petrophysics.
Any previous experience of information and / or document management system is a plus.
Experience in advanced well log data analysis from various sources such as Wireline, Logging While Drilling, Measurement While Drilling and Cased hole logs is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex technical issues and capability to prioritize tasks.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex technical concepts to a variety of audience.
Ability to identify opportunities that create value for customers with a strong customer first mindset.
Ability to proactively take the lead in resolving complex technical issues and/or difficult organisational problems with an innovative approach.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and competing priorities.
