Introduction to the Role
This role reports directly to the Head of Operational Excellence & Quality for San Diego and Korea factories.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead strategy deployment (using Hoshin Kanri) and adoption on the shopfloor for San DIego & Korea factories. Assist Factory heads to translate senior leadership priorities into clear factory goals, KPIs, and a focused set of critical initiatives through Hoshin Kanri and catch ball process. Ensure these priorities are effectively cascaded and adopted at all levels, from leadership to shopfloor, through practical and structured change management (visual management, simple communication artifacts, leader routines). Own and drive the annual strategy deployment cycle and roadmap, including shaping the next planning cycle8 at factory level.
Facilitate Hoshin Kanri strategy sessions and structured problem solving. Lead workshops and working sessions with factory leadership to clarify priorities, solve complex problems, and build a more integrated, system-level view of operations. Own the monthly operating mechanism to track progress of key initiatives. Drive clarity on decisions needed and support required, maintain action tracking, escalate blockers, and ensure follow-through and closure with factory leadership.
Lead high impact transformation/breakthrough initiatives end-to-end. At any time, personally own 1–2 cross functional transformation initiatives. Define the problem, structure the approach, align stakeholders, and execute to deliver measurable business impact, not just activity or reporting.
Drive maturity of strategy deployment and performance management for Operational Excellence Maturity. Own and advance the maturity of strategy execution across San Diego and Korea factories as part of OE maturity roadmap. Define standards, conduct assessments, identify gaps, and drive targeted improvements in how strategy is translated into execution and measurable outcomes ensuring a clear and repeatable link from goals to results. In this capacity, the individual will work closely with Head of Lean/CI for San Diego & Korea factories
Scale and standardize the operating system across sites. Build and institutionalize a consistent way of working across San Diego & Korea factories
Coach and influence leaders on system-level thinking. Work directly with leaders to strengthen how they think about performance management, KPI alignment, and business tradeoffs. Guide them to move from isolated problem solving to systemic, end-to-end solutions that connect strategy to execution.
Apply strong financial and business judgment. Evaluate initiatives through a business lens balancing short-term improvements with long-term value creation. Clearly communicate tradeoffs, impact, and priorities to leadership.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or other lean certificates from reputable organizations (ASQ for instance) are strongly preferred
PMP certification strongly preferred
Minimum qualifications – the hired candidate must possess all of the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for the position including:
Minimum 7 years of experience in Operational Excellence related role in manufacturing
At least 5 years focus on strategy deployment and driving enterprise level projects
Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to lead without authority and influence cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical and systems thinker with at least 7 years of experience (ideal: Graduate level education in Industrial Engineering or relevant field): able to connect strategy, operations, and execution into a coherent end-to-end system, while translating concepts into practical, real-world application
Strategic but execution-driven: thrives in ambiguity, quickly structures problems, and drives outcomes without getting stuck in analysis
Practical and hands-on: works directly with factory leadership to ensure solutions are implemented and adopted, not just designed
Influential beyond level with strong ownership: confidently engages senior stakeholders, challenges thinking, and takes end-to-end accountability for delivering measurable impact

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:
$110,250-165,375
Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
