Job Description
We are a global team of innovators and pioneers dedicated to shaping the future of observability. At New Relic, we build an intelligent platform that empowers companies to thrive in an AI-first world by giving them unparalleled insight into their complex systems. As we continue to expand our global footprint, we're looking for passionate people to join our mission. If you're ready to help the world's best companies optimize their digital applications, we invite you to explore a career with us!
Your opportunity
At New Relic, we provide our customers real-time insights, so they can innovate faster. Our software delivers insightful observability tools across different technologies and distributed systems, enabling software engineering teams to quickly identify, understand and tackle issues, analyze performance and get the most of their software and infrastructure.
The Infra Data Pipeline team is at the core of New Relic's telemetry platform. We own and operate 50+ microservices responsible for processing, storing, and distributing metrics, metadata, and inventory data at a scale found at very few companies. Our systems handle millions of data points per second, and the reliability and performance of our pipeline directly impacts every New Relic customer.
We work with a diverse tech stack — Java, Go, Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS, PostgreSQL, Redis, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, and more. You will work alongside some of the best engineers in the industry and take on some of the most complex infrastructure challenges in the observability space.
If you love owning what you build, working on high-scale distributed systems, and contributing to a platform that matters to thousands of engineering teams worldwide, we want to hear from you.
What you'll do
Build, maintain, and scale backend microservices that process telemetry data at massive scale.
Own your services end-to-end — you deploy your code to production, monitor it, and are on-call for it.
Create and maintain alerts and dashboards to ensure the health and performance of the services you own.
Participate in incident response, driving mitigation and contributing to root cause analysis and retrospectives.
Work in an agile, DevOps environment where teams build, deploy, and operate their own software.
Collaborate with engineers across Spain and India in a distributed team setup.
Contribute to cost optimization and reliability improvements across the pipeline.
Write technical documentation — runbooks, design documents, and postmortems — that the team can rely on.
This role requires
Experience writing production-quality backend code in Java or Go.
Experience deploying and operating software in production — you own the full lifecycle, not just the code.
Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices, and asynchronous programming (event streams, message queues).
Comfort working in a fast-paced, agile environment with a focus on delivering at a regular cadence.
A collaborative work style — you involve colleagues in decisions and contribute to shared ownership.
A growth mindset — you adapt quickly, learn new technologies, and move forward despite ambiguity.
Proficiency in English.
Bonus points if you have
Experience with Kafka or other event streaming platforms.
Experience with Kubernetes and cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Experience with Redis, Elasticsearch, or PostgreSQL.
Experience with data ingestion or real-time data pipelines.
Contribution to open source projects.
Experience being on-call for services you built and own.
Fostering a diverse, welcoming and inclusive environment is important to us. We work hard to make everyone feel comfortable bringing their best, most authentic selves to work every day. Their experiences and perspectives inspire us to make our products and company the best they can be. We’re looking for people who feel connected to our mission and values, not just candidates who check off all the boxes.
If you require a reasonable accommodation to complete any part of the application or recruiting process, please reach out to resume@newrelic.com.
We believe in empowering all Relics to achieve professional and business success through a flexible workforce model. This model allows us to work in a variety of workplaces that best support our success, including fully office-based, fully remote, or hybrid.
Our hiring process
In compliance with applicable law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work and to complete employment eligibility verification. Note: Our stewardship of the data of thousands of customers means that a criminal background check is required to join New Relic.
We will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records based on individual circumstances and in accordance with applicable law including, but not limited to, the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.

If relevant, we will provide more information later in the application process.
